Opportunity Nottingham: The Criminal Justice System and Multiple Disadvantage

Opportunity Nottingham’s annual event aims to explore what is and isn’t working within the criminal justice system for people facing multiple disadvantage.
Chaired by Paula Harriott, Head of Prisoner Engagement at the Prison Reform Trust, there will be key note speeches by Paddy Tipping, Police and Crime Commissioner for Nottinghamshire and Anne Fox, Chief Executive Officer at Clinks.
Evidence from the Opportunity Nottingham project will be presented, identifying where different approaches are working, and also where cost savings can be made.
A series of short presentations delivered by professionals working in the sector, will address the following:
- Specific experiences of female prisoners
- Navigating the criminal justice system when facing Multiple Disadvantage
- Improving engagement and outcomes for prisoners facing Multiple Disadvantage
- The value of mental health support in prison and the wider criminal justice system.
There will be the opportunity for questions and discussion with a panel, including a Commissioner and Clinical Psychologist.
The event will close with a series of short videos featuring Opportunity Nottingham Expert Citizens talking about their experiences of the criminal justice system.
