BBO Video Case Study - Opportunity & Change

Posted 14.08.2019

Opportunity and Change are part of the national Building Better Opportunities programme funded by the European Social Fund and the National Lottery Community Fund. Opportunity and Change is delivered across D2N2 (Derby City, Derbyshire, Nottingham City, Nottinghamshire) by a partnership of fifteen community-based organisations. The project is led by Framework, a charitable organisation dedicated to delivering housing, health, employment support and care services to people with a diverse range of needs.

Opportunity and Change supports people with multiple and complex needs – some of the most socially isolated and marginalised people in our local communities – to move closer towards employment, education and training. We believe that with the right support and opportunities, people facing multiple disadvantage can find and sustain meaningful employment. By engaging in a holistic range of one-to-one and group support, training and therapeutic interventions, individuals can broaden their social networks, increase self-confidence and motivation, improve health and wellbeing, learn new skills, and ultimately increase their employability.

The two videos below provide a snapshot of some of the unique provision available to Opportunity and Change participants, and how these are making an impact.

In the first video, you will see a selection of group-based therapeutic interventions that have been helping Opportunity and Change participants to overcome barriers in relation to mental health, housing, domestic abuse, substance misuse, and offending:

The second video features Skills Plus for Change; a bespoke training package offering bite-sized learning around personal development, wellbeing, employment and managing independent living:
