Building Better Opportunities announce programme changes due to coronavirus

Posted 24.03.2020

Following the announcement from the Government regarding Covid-19, we are changing the way the Building Better Opportunities programmes operate in the short term:

  • Appointments are being conducted via telephone
  • Job Clubs have been suspended
  • Commissioned activity or training has been suspended – although we are exploring ways to deliver some of our training on-line, i.e. the Money Sorted WEA courses (see flyer)

Referrals into BBO:
Referrals into BBO can continue to be made. On referral, you will receive an initial acknowledgement, however timelines for signup will be inevitably delayed as a result of the current situation and the ESF requirement for a face to face appointment. While the BBO strands await for further guidance, Money Sorted has begun signing up via phone and text to ensure people receive the support they need at a time which is proving financially difficult for many.

Guidance on the impact of Coronavirus on ESF funded delivery can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/esf-action-notes-2014-to-2020-programme/04620-covid-19-impact-on-esf-programme-managing-authority-update

BBO staff support some of the most vulnerable groups in society and we will attempt to continue to deliver our holistic offer of support in these challenging times.

For further information on referrals into BBO and any concerns, please speak to your local BBO Stakeholder Manager or contact:

BBO is having a significant impact on individual lives, supporting people to increase their confidence, independence and achieve their employment aspirations.
