First of 7 Recruiting Talent in Nottinghamshire events takes place in Gedling – 19 November 2019

Over 30 Gedling companies joined a range of support organisations at the Goosedale Conference Centre in Papplewick, Gedling, Nottinghamshire at the first of 7 events held as part of Recruiting Talent in Nottinghamshire series.

The event was opened by Karen Bradford, Chief Executive of Gedling Borough Council. Karen (pictured centre) is from the local area and returned just over 1 year ago to take up the post of CEO.  Karen told local companies about her aspirations for Gedling and the support available for local companies to recruit local people. Karen was joined by Dawn Edwards, Managing Director of Challenge Consulting and newly appointed president of the Chamber of Commerce (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire). Dawn spoke to us about the challenges for small companies to recruit inclusively. She highlighted the need to think differently about employing local people.

Lisa Vernon from the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership told us about the LEP’s Vision 2030 strategic plan and the priorities for the area including increasing productivity and inclusive recruitment.

Chamber of Commerce (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire)
The Prince’s Trust
Nottinghamshire County Council – employment services and care leavers local offer
Nottingham Jobs and the BBO Stakeholder Manager for Nottinghamshire

Delegates networked and met local organisations in the marketplace, which can help them to recruit inclusively.
