Recruiting Talent in Broxtowe 27/2/20: post event page

Posted 11.03.2020

Ruth Hyde (pictured), Chief Executive of Broxtowe Borough Council, welcomed Broxtowe businesses to the Recruiting Talent in Broxtowe event at Strelley Hall on Thursday 27th February 2020.  The Recruiting Talent series aims to help businesses to look at alternative ways of recruiting to successfully fill job vacancies and meet local organisations that can offer support.

Ruth told the audience about Broxtowe’s ambition to invest in people and places; prepare for change; and improve connectivity.  Delegates heard from Luke Stott from the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership on the local labour market.  Jess Barnett from The Treat Kitchen talked about how  recruiting from an alternative pool of talent has made a difference to her business and the journey from first steps, working in partnership with Double Impact.  The two workshops focused on unlocking the apprenticeship levy and recruiting former armed forces personnel.

Delegates also had the opportunity to meet local providers that can help them to recruit and support new employees that they may not have considered targeting such as ex-offenders, young people, care leavers and people with disabilities.
