States of Independence - a new play by Unanima Theatre

Posted 14.06.2019

How can we move from life looked at and enjoyed from a distance to achieving authentic, first-hand living?

Welcome to ‘States of Independence’. The game where you must navigate your way through the zones of impediments in order to find your independent future.

Is it Game On or Game Over?

Join Unanima’s company of storytellers as they take you through the tensions and messiness of being labelled as having an intellectual and developmental disability, how this is experienced and how this affects aspects of identity and cultural capacity, for both the individual and carer, in society today.

Unanima is a professionally led company of actors with intellectual and developmental disabilities who create theatre to explore issues and themes relevant to all.  Through bold experimental styles and innovative witty storytelling Unanima co-produce work that challenges audiences to think differently about disability.
