Talk Money Week November 2020

Talk Money Week is an annual campaign to get the nation talking about money. Talk Money Week 2020 will take place on 9-13 November.

Each November people in the UK are encouraged to talk about managing money – from pocket money right through to pensions – and celebrate the work done by thousands of organisations to build financial wellbeing across the country.

The week provides a platform to have a conversation about money between families and friends, at work or at school or any other walk of life. This year as part of the recovery from Covid-19 many families will need financial advice.

Why talk money?
Talking openly about money is vitally important for health, wealth and relationships. The effect of Covid-19 has made it more important than ever to start conversations about money.

Research shows that people who talk about money:

  • make better and less risky financial decisions
  • have stronger personal relationships
  • help their children form good lifetime money habits
  • feel less stressed or anxious and more in control.

Building money conversations into our everyday lives also helps us build financial confidence and resilience to face whatever the future throws at us.

Money Sorted in D2N2 is the Building Better Opportunities programme which provides support and personally tailored interventions for people experiencing the greatest financial difficulty, who live in either Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham or Nottinghamshire and who are unemployed or economically inactive. It will enable individuals to take control, build their confidence and skills and help them tackle barriers and problems in order to improve their financial well-being.
